Day 4 Blog

The day at BamBam started with a warmup of running in place while doing uppercuts and then jumping down and sprawling out when Coach Many blew his whistle. We did this for five minutes. After the warmup, we started working on the combination of 1232, or in other words, jab, cross, hook, cross, and we ducked under to avoid two punches from our partner, and finished it with two more jabs and crosses. After we were done with that exercise, we went to the bags and added kicks to our routine. We started with a sidekick, this kick is executed by turning and hitting the bag with your shin. After that kick, we added a front kick, which is using your front leg instead of your back leg. You step forward with your back leg and use that momentum to kick your leg forward. After that, the kickboxing section was completed.

Our next activity was jiu-jitsu, first, we worked on a series of moves that blocked a punch. The first step of this series was to grab their shoulders and fall backward, then to wrap your legs around their back to stop them from punching you, from this position we then grabbed their neck and arms to disable any movement. The second step was to push them off using your legs while grabbing their biceps, then pull their shins up to your biceps. The third step was for the attacker to stan on their knees while the defender pushed their hips in the air and placed their feet on the attacker's hips,  stopping them from getting any closer. The fourth step was for the attacker to stand up while the defender placed their feet on the attacker's stomach and laid on the shoulders to stop the attack. Finally, we added a tactical hop to get away or have an advantage. We then added all the moves together and practiced a real fight on our partners.

Next, we worked on stick fighting, the first activity we worked on was hitting the bag

After we got back from lunch, we read chapters 4-6 of The Psychology of Winning. This took about an hour, about half of the class went outside to read, which was very nice. After the hour of reading, we had a Seminar. Mr. Zhou’s seminar was a little bit out of hand due to the number of people agreeing with each other's opinions. We all decided that the book is outdated and it was hard to relate to it. After Seminar it was 3:30, and the day had ended.
